Tomorrow is “The Day”!
If you ever considered a day as very important to you, tomorrow is one of these days for Vil. At around 8:30 he will go to sleep and a few minutes later they will remove the stone and put a stent into somewhere ;). Maybe removing the Evil wich caused him to suffer so much, we hope so. No complaints, but sometimes is was a little bit hard to get up again and again. For nearly twenty five years he was sick on and off. Visited hospitals in more countries some people ever in their life travel to.
He learned to appreciate life and understood that “Tomorrow, today will be yesterday!” So many people say that they will buy a car tomorrow or travel tomorrow or life tomorrow, but they tend to forget that there is also a NOW!
Life NOW. Love NOW!
CrossClaws for 2morrow!

E.R.C.P. – Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography
The doctors informed that Vil has to wait a few days to recover a bit and then he will get an ECRP. On Thursday this week it’s ‘Operating Time’. They will put a tube in his throat, cut somewhere, remove the stone and place a stent.
“ERCP is a procedure that enables your physician to examine the pancreatic and bile ducts. A bendable, lighted tube (endoscope) about the thickness of your index finger is placed through your mouth and into your stomach and first part of the small intestine (duodenum). In the duodenum a small opening is identified (ampulla) and a small plastic tube (cannula) is passed through the endoscope and into this opening. Dye (contrast material) is injected and X-rays are taken to study the ducts of the pancreas and liver.”

Sick & Happy – Time to celebrate!
It’s celebration time. Vil is in the hospital for a few days now (again), he is not feeling good and still needs very strong medicine, like morphine for the pain, but he is very happy because it seems that the doctors finally figured out what’s wrong with him and why he gets sick every few months.
It seems like a dream that there is finally a reason why he feels so sick all the time and the doctors are able to help him now. More than twenty years of regular sickness, he was in hospitals in six countries dozens of times, he lost several jobs and his family because of this, but there is hope now.
The MRI showed the inflammation AND the stone again, so now they will go for an operation and place the Stent next week. I really hope that he can recover now because I need him, I miss him and I don’t want to be without him.

A new medicine – Resonium
Today Vil got a new medicine he never had before. The information leaflet says that this medicine is for a high potassium level in his blood. Bottom line: His blood was so ducked up, that he nearly died of a heart attack.
Hospital (AGAIN)!
This morning Vil didn’t feel very well and all his values are out of range. He was lying in the shadow all day and tried to get better until he decided that he won’t make it without help. He called some friends and they directly rushed him to the OLVG West and me to our lady friend.

ARBO Doctor
Today Vil had a meeting with the company doctor and it was agreed that he won’t return to work, because he missed too much time and he would need to be trained again, which would make no real sense. We need to wait now for the final examination and then we will decide what to do. Vil is really sad because he really liked to work for his company. Is was the first company who was interested in helping him to get better.

Day Eight – Vil is sick and we got some donations
Vil is not very good today. He slept very bad and he woke up with pain and nausea. Fortunately we have a real bed for a few days, so it’s no real big deal. He took his medicine, went back to bed and is sleeping now. That’s not very nice, but we also have some good news.
We’ve got a dog carrier for me , a tent and a 1.st aid kit.
Thank you.

We need a ‘Dr. House’
It’s a wonderful day in Amsterdam, the sun is shining and Vil is back home from the hospital. It is such a relief to have him back. We had a long walk in the Vondelpark, enjoyed the smell and I had a very nice bath in the water. “How do feel now? Better?”.
Vil turns around. “Sure I feel better. The sun is shining, I am not in the hospital anymore and the food stays inside.” and smiles at me. “It’s not a nice feeling to be connected to an infusion for days. It doesn’t really hurt anymore, but to be restricted is hell.”
“Boah, too much detail, please and YES, I know how it feels to be ‘connected’, I am a DOG, I am always connected. You know we agreed to write our blog way funnier, so please not so dark and no passive aggressive statements. We need followers who read, laugh, share and not jump out of the windows.”
“I like the IT-Crowd”. He still smiles. “Yes, sure. I always try to do my best to find the positive sides, but today it might be a bit complicated.”, grabs his coffee and had a sip. “Shit, HOT!”
“Why would you say that?”, I wonder.
He looks at me and I smell he is not very comfortable. “They made two MRI scans and one shows clearly an ‘issue’ which explains all my issues and can be easily solved with a stent. Jupieeeee, but never celebrate too early. When they made the second scan the ‘issue’ miraculously disappeared and now the doctors are not sure what to do. They know that there is an ‘issue’. I don’t get morphine and Kytilei (or whatever) for days for nothing. But freaking WHERE is the ‘issue’ now and why did it disappear?” He accidentally smashes his glass on the table. “Uhps…., nothing hurt.”
He picks up the glass shards. “Be careful and don’t cut yourself. You are not the luckiest person the last few days and I don’t want to bring you back.”
“Thank you for your concerns. I am ok here.” He smiles at me.
Vil didn’t tell much about the hospital visit, but to be in this place makes him not better and he lost plenty of weight. “And what they gonna do? Did the doctor said anything? What is the plan?”
“They will call me when they decided if they want to perform the procedure prohibitively or not because the ‘issue’ disappeared. I have no idea. If they decide not to place the stent, then I need to wait until the ‘issue’ pops up again and then I need to go to the hospital and hope that they will make an MRI immediately to confirm the ‘issue’ and if not I am screwed.”
“Sounds like to be on ‘death row’. You know it will come, but you have no idea when.”
Silence,…..
Vil takes a deep breath and exhales. “Somehow, but for the moment I am alive and nothing hurts. I am hungry.”
“Let’s go for a walk and you can get the nice beef schotel special at Kinkerstraat. Was it Eumer?”
“Naaa, Oemer. Good idea. With double sauce and red special mega sauce. Yummy……”
“What about your stomach? Aren’t you afraid that you might have problems again?”
He shakes his head. ‘First I won’t fill myself up to the brim, but I like it now. Proteins said the doctor and the schotel is with salad as well and second. Let it come, as sooner as better it is.”
“But you never get a schotel for me.”
“You remember the last time you had red sauce?”, Vil is laughing at me. “You rubbed your butt for a few days on the carpet, because it was burning TWICE!”
We both laugh so hard I nearly piss myself and we need a bit of time to calm down. “So you need a miracle or a Doctor House?”
“YES!”
…
[UPDATE: The nice doctor just called. They discussed the ‘case’ and they decided to wait and make NO procedure. He advised to look for lipase and make two CT scans, one with and one without contrast material and see what shows up. MEGA F***! This means Vil is really in a shitty situation. He knows something is wrong and it will get very bad again, but he can do nothing than wait for the unavoidable to happen again and end up in the ICU, feel sick and vomit allover. AGAIN!]

Hospital Food – OLVG West Amsterdam
To be sick in a hospital in not a nice experience and therefor I really appreciate the work and effort from nurses, maintenance staff and whoever is responsible making a stay as pleasant as possible. The food is really nice and compared to other hospitals we experienced in the last years SECOND TO NONE! A big shout out to the staff of the OLVG West in Amsterdam. HIGH 5! You Rule!!!
This food is meant to stay inside!
